The Tennessee Highway Safety Office sponsors Reduce TN Crashes, a competition for schools across the state of Tennessee to increase safe driving practices. Schools receive points for completing activities or initiatives that promote safety in the vehicle.  THS currently ranks 2nd out of 184 schools in 89 counties.

Guest speakers have been one way that our driver's education team and students have earned points. For example, Blake Poore presented on Operation Lifesaver to our students.  Also, Wellmont trauma nurses spoke with students about driving safety and what they see in the Wellmont emergency room every day.  In addition to inviting guest speakers to their classes, the driver's education team arranged for students to tour the WellmontOne Air Transport Helicopter.  Students heard presentations about driving safety and the opportunities of the WellmontOne Air Trasnsport.  These are just a few of the activities THS has completed to achieve its current 2nd place ranking. A big thank you goes to our driver's ed teachers who participate in the program and influence the way our students think of vehicle safety.
